While teaching Jazzercise for about 9 years I began practicing yoga with a friend as she began her teacher training. Eventually, my passion for yoga overtook my love of Jazzercise and I retired after almost 17 years so I could focus more on my yoga practice. It didn’t take long for my desire to teach to resurface. I have been practicing yoga for nearly a decade and I graduated from The Mat Yoga Studio’s 200-hour teacher training program in 2017. My love of teaching and love of yoga made a perfect combination. Yoga is much more than just a different exercise routine; yoga was life-changing in that I learned to connect my body, mind and spirit. I learned to slow down and breathe through what life had in store for me. Through yoga I've gained more confidence, strength and flexibility both on and off the mat. As a type-A, pitta, competitive person the non-competitive nature of yoga challenges and inspires me to be okay with where I am in the moment. I continue to educate myself with reading, workshops and trainings with teachers like Jason Crandell, David Romanelli, John Salisbury and Ross Rayburn to name a few. My hope is to share my passion for yoga beyond the asanas and to continually grow and evolve in my own practice and share my knowledge with students in hopes we all find balance and contentment on and off the mat. I want to share the practice of yoga in a way that is accessible to all: to meet people where they are, as they are.
